Are you ready?

So, in the past few weeks, I've been listening to certain church members say,"Get ready. The time is coming. All of the signs are in place." I know if today was the rapture that I would be going to Heaven. Also, I've recently studied Psalms 90 which says we should number our days because we never know when days are up. Make your life worth something for God, not just for worldly things. Well, today my time was almost up.

I witnessed a terrifying wreck as I was taking Mason and Mallory to school. All of my kids were buckled in to their seatbelts and we were almost to school. I had just passed the front of the school on the access road and I was getting ready to turn right into the driveway. I noticed there was an SUV in the opposite lane waiting to turn left, with their blinker on. I knew the kids in the car, so I put my blinker on and was about to flash my lights to signal that they could turn in front of me. About that time, a truck rear-ended the SUV and sent it flying up into the air. It landed on its passenger side about 30 feet in front of my car. I immediately slammed on my brakes, put it in park and yelled at the kids to stay in their seatbelts.

I ran, with my cell phone in hand, to the SUV to see if anyone was injured. I called 911 and began giving them the details. Everyone in the SUV seemed to be moving so I went to check in the driver of the truck. He too was on the phone with 911. The people in the SUV were trapped and ended up having to climb out of the back window. But not before the firemen had to cut the back seat in order for them to climb out. The youngest child did not seem to be hurt. The teenager was taken to the hospital on a back board and the grandmother walked to the ambulance on her own accord. I was just grateful it wasn't more serious.

Then it hit me - Another 5 seconds and that SUV would have flipped over on top of my SUV. If I had been a few seconds earlier or had been traveling a little faster, that SUV would have crushed my car and everyone in it. Talk about eye opening. It only takes one second for your life to change drastically. It will definitely make you think about your life and what you do with it. Me personally, it makes me want to hug my kids every moment I'm with them.

I know that I'm ready. Whether its the rapture or the end of my days...it doesn't matter to me. But are you ready? Where would you be for eternity?

Sweet baby???

When Christian and I first started talking about having a third child, he was not really in favor of it so much. He was fine with having a third child but he wanted them to be adopted. He doesn't really like the pregnancy part and he's terribly afraid of the "C" word. COLIC!

Mallory had it terribly and it lasted for many weeks. It was one of the most stressful times for us both. I was not working when Mallory was an infant but I couldn't make it through the nights by myself. Christian and I took 30 min. shifts to deal with the constant crying. Many nights we would end up in tears ourselves.

So when I approached him about having another baby, he was a little reluctant. But nevertheless, I won that battle and now we have sweet Magan. We prayed for her health when she was growing and we also prayed that she wouldn't develop colic. Mostly because it seems very painful for the baby but mostly because it is stressful for the parents. In the last two weeks, she has started to cry more and we've changed her formula a time or two to make sure she doesn't spit up too much. The last few nights, she has cried for hours at a time starting around 6:30 and lasting as late as midnight.

Last night was terrible. I was with her for five hours by myself and she cried the whole time. I was in tears when Christian came home with Mason and Mallory. I had done all I could do. It took him less than an hour to get her to sleep and she slept soundly until about 5:30 this morning. Tonight she only cried for an hour or so, and then she went to sleep in Christian's lap. He swears she has colic, and she might, but he seems to have the knack for keeping her comfortable. Sweet baby!
