Cold, rainy, but fun!

This past weekend, we went to Blairsville, GA for the Sorgum Festival. Betsy went with us and we drove up through the north Ga. mountains. It was a beautiful drive, but we didn't know it was supposed to rain the entire day. The temperature also got down to 37 degrees when we got on top of Blood Mountain. The people at the hiking station were saying that they were expecting some snow. We decided not to stay there long because there were no places for us to sleep.

The festival was pretty good. There were about 20 vendors, which wasn't many, but I thought the crafts were good. I was just glad to have something fun to do, and to be able to spend time with Betsy.

We didn't get home until 12:30 or so the next morning. It was a long day!

Daddy kept everything under control in the backseat.
Mason and Betsy's friend, Kelly, at the festival.
Just clowning around with Aunt Bet. Mallory had her mouth full of funnel cake! That's my girl!
Isn't she sweet?
The FBC Blairsville was face painting. Mallory wanted them to put every color on her face!

1st PTF at Grace

Last Tuesday night was our first Parent Teacher Fellowship at Grace Christian Academy. Ms. Janie had mentioned that the children might get awards, so we were so excited. They each got an "A" Honor Roll award. There first report cards had great grades in academics and behavior.

Mallory's BooBoo

About two weeks ago, Mallory and Mason were playing in the living room. They had taken the cushions off of the couch and placed them as a bridge from the sofa to the coffee table. They were playing like it was a fort. They decided it was a good idea to climb on top of the fort and play. It didn't work out so well for Mallory. I heard her scream real loud and I went to see what happened. Calmly, she walked into the kitchen with her hand on her chin. She wasn't crying then and the first thing out her mouth was, "Mason didn't push me". When she moved her hand, I could clearly see that she had cut her chin pretty bad and we were going to have to make a trip to the ER. As I'm explaining to her about the trip to the doctor, Mason comes in and says "Will she have to have stitches?" This just sent her right over the edge. She hadn't cried a tear until he uttered those words. I couldn't help but laugh. When I asked her if she even knew what stitches were, she said no. When I asked her why she would be scared, she says "I've seen it on TV". I hadn't had a bath that day and we were all still in our PJs. So I had to get a bath and change everyone's clothes before we could go. It gave mom time to get to Covington and meet me at the hospital. I just knew Mason would be more than I could have handled in the ER. He would have been telling the doctor how to put the stitches in her face.

They had to numb her chin before they could clean the wound or put the stitches in it. The numbing medicine was on a cotton ball and they taped it to her chin. It had to stay on about 20 mins.
They taped a cotton ball on my chin too, so I could show her how to act big. It didn't really help matters. She was still mad at them.

This was our nurse, Glenda. She had the unpleasant job of holding Mallory's head still while the doctor sowed her up. Mallory was SCREAMING the whole time. I know she was ready to get us out of there quickly!

After the final stitch. There was a total of 4 stitches and they healed up nicely. BTW - the blue is eyeshadow from earlier in the morning. She only hit her chin, not her whole face!

Carnival time

I know, I know. Its been almost a month since my last month. Things have just been busy, and I haven't really had the time. Plus I'm tired a lot more these days, so I spend any free time sleeping. So let me catch you up!

At the first of the month, we took the kids to the Rockdale Co. Fair with some friends from church, the Roudebush family. Jeff works in the sound booth with Christian and they have a daughter named Katy, who is the same age as Mallory. We had been at the church BBQ all day and this was a last minute decision to take the kids, but I'm glad we did. The kids had a great time riding the rides but there were two things they had to do over and over, that weren't really rides.
There was a Fun House that had an obstacle course that you had to go through before you could even go inside. It wasn't really big enough for grown-ups to go in to, so I don't have any pictures. And the only way you could get out was to slide down this big twisty slide. They had a ball trying to get through the obstacle course. The other thing they wanted to really do was watch the Rodeo. There was a big rodeo competition going on during the Fair. Every time we got close to the rodeo, the kids would stop and yell for the bull rider. Mallory was the most intrigued, which is not surprising. She loves animals of any kind.

This was an exciting part of our night. The kids really wanted to do this bungee, but I was sure that Mallory would go through with it. Sorry the picture isn't any better. She was bouncing too fast for my camera to make a good picture. (Maybe someone will buy me a new camera before the new baby comes! Hint! Hint!)

The kids rode the big ferris wheel with Jeff.

Mallory, Katy and Mason riding the dumbo ride. It was funny that they were able to ride everything as a threesome because they were so small and skinny!

This was Mason on the bungee. Look how high he was going. It made me a nervous wreck! Plus he figured out how to flip over. He loved that the best!

This ride was hilarious to watch. They were in a race car that just went around an oval. But once it came to the corners, it would snap out and jerk the cart to the right. The kids would laugh so loud when that would happen. The picture isn't real clear, but you can tell by their expressions that it was funny!

This was our first ride. Mason didn't really want to ride the carousel, and Mallory wasn't sure she wanted to do it by herself. In the end, the carousel went really fast, so they loved it.
